Maid Protect360 Pro (Premier) explained: benefits, limits and the fine print

HL Assurance's upper maid insurance tier lifts hospital and surgical cover to S$80,000 and waives the 25% co-payment. Here is what the plan covers and what to verify.

Maid Protect360 Pro (Premier) is HL Assurance's higher tier of maid insurance, sitting above its Enhanced plan, and it is built around one clear selling point: a larger medical limit and a co-payment waiver, on top of the security bond and personal accident cover every maid insurance plan in Singapore has to include.

What the plan covers

According to HL Assurance's published product page, the Premier tier provides:

  • S$80,000 a year of hospital and surgical expenses for the domestic helper, HL Assurance's highest published medical limit across its maid insurance range.
  • A waiver of the standard 25% co-payment, meaning the employer is not left covering a quarter of the medical bill themselves once the plan responds, as can happen under plans without this waiver.
  • Up to S$100,000 for the helper's death or permanent disability, the plan's personal accident benefit.
  • The S$5,000 security bond guarantee to the Ministry of Manpower, which every employer is liable for during the work permit, with an optional waiver that HL Assurance states reduces the employer's own liability to S$250 if the bond is called.
  • A replacement helper service, providing alternative domestic help while your helper is hospitalised.
  • Outpatient medical and dental treatment at subsidised rates, through HL Assurance's associated clinic network.

What the page does not state

HL Assurance's product page does not publish the plan's price, policy term, repatriation benefit amount, or the details of employer or third-party liability cover under this plan. It also does not state wages and levy reimbursement terms. These are the kinds of details that matter for a full comparison against other maid plans, and where they are not on the page, the product documents below are where to look, or you can ask HL Assurance or an advisor directly.

Where the co-payment waiver matters most

A 25% co-payment on a S$80,000 medical limit is a meaningful sum if it is not waived, so the waiver is arguably the plan's central feature rather than a minor add-on. Employers comparing this plan against a cheaper tier with the same headline medical limit but no co-payment waiver should treat the waiver as a real difference in what they would actually pay out of pocket during a serious claim, not a cosmetic upgrade.

The security bond waiver, specifically

HL Assurance states that its optional bond waiver reduces the employer's liability from the full S$5,000 to S$250 if MOM calls on the bond. This is a substantial reduction in exposure, and worth understanding clearly: it does not remove the bond requirement itself, which remains a MOM obligation, but it changes how much of that S$5,000 the employer would actually have to pay the insurer if the bond were called during the work permit.

What governs if there is a discrepancy

The insurer's product page is a summary, not the contract. HL Assurance's own policy wording documents, including the Maid Protect360 Pro policy wording and the general terms and conditions document, set out the actual terms, exclusions and claims procedures, and these documents are what governs if a figure on the product page and the wording ever disagree. It is worth reading the policy wording in full before buying, particularly the exclusions section, since maid insurance policies commonly exclude pre-existing conditions the helper had before the policy started.

What to check in general before buying maid insurance

Regardless of which insurer or tier you are considering, it is worth checking: whether the medical limit is annual or per-incident, whether the co-payment waiver (if any) applies to all claims or only some, what the repatriation benefit actually pays for, whether replacement helper services have their own separate limit on duration, and what the policy classifies as a pre-existing condition at the point the helper's employment with you began. None of these are unique to HL Assurance, but they are the questions that separate maid insurance plans in practice more than the headline medical limit does.

This article describes HL Assurance's own published material as at the date shown on the product page and is not a recommendation that this plan is the best or cheapest option; figures can change, and the insurer's current product documents take precedence over anything summarised here.

Talk to an advisor

Maid insurance plans differ enough in their co-payment, waiver and exclusion terms that comparing headline medical limits alone can be misleading. An advisor can walk through the current terms of this plan against others. Compare maid insurance at /compare/singapore/maid or find an advisor through our directory.
