PA Assurance (Classic) explained: benefits, limits and the fine print

Income Insurance's PA Assurance Classic pays $200,000 on accidental death and up to $300,000 for permanent disability, with motorcycling covered at no extra cost. Here is what sits above and below it.

PA Assurance is Income Insurance's individual personal accident plan, sold across five tiers β€” Basic, Classic, Superior, Premium and Prestige β€” with Classic sitting as the middle tier. Personal accident cover is comparatively simple as an insurance product, but the specific limits attached to each benefit, and what is or is not included as standard, still vary enough between tiers and insurers to be worth checking carefully.

What the Classic tier covers

PA Assurance Classic pays $200,000 on accidental death, and up to $300,000 for permanent disability, with the actual disability payout scaled according to the severity of the disability against a schedule of benefits, rather than the full sum being paid for every disability claim. Accidental medical expenses are covered up to an overall limit of $6,000, and the plan pays $150 a day in hospital income for each day of hospitalisation resulting from a covered accident.

Motorcycling is covered at no extra premium on this plan, worth noting specifically because personal accident insurers commonly either exclude motorcycling entirely or charge a loading for it given the higher accident severity associated with motorcycles; PA Assurance Classic includes it as standard rather than as a paid add-on.

The infectious disease add-on

An optional add-on extends cover to 26 infectious diseases, including dengue fever, at an additional premium β€” the published annual premium for Classic rises from $361.88 without this add-on to $409.84 with it included. Given how common dengue is in Singapore, this is one of the more commonly added options on this plan, and worth deciding on deliberately rather than defaulting to whichever option is pre-selected on an application form.

Who can buy it, and where it applies

Entry age for PA Assurance runs from 15 days old to 70 years old, making it a plan that can cover an entire family rather than being restricted to working-age adults. Cover applies in Singapore and extends overseas for 180 days from the date of departure, useful for anyone travelling for an extended period, though this is not a substitute for dedicated travel insurance on any specific trip, since the two products are underwritten for different purposes and cover different specific risks. A 40% premium discount applies to children's premiums when a parent is also insured under the plan, which is worth factoring in when deciding whether to insure the whole family under this insurer.

Where Classic sits among the five tiers

Because PA Assurance is sold across five tiers, the Classic-specific figures above β€” the $200,000 death benefit, up to $300,000 disability benefit, $6,000 medical expense limit and $150 daily hospital income β€” do not apply automatically to Basic, Superior, Premium or Prestige, which scale these limits up or down. Anyone comparing tiers should look at the same four figures across each tier rather than assuming Classic's numbers are representative of the whole product line.

The product page does not publish what occupations are accepted or excluded under this plan, which matters for personal accident insurance more than for most other lines, since higher-risk occupations are commonly excluded or loaded. Check this directly with the insurer or your advisor before assuming your occupation is covered as standard.

What governs if there is a discrepancy

The figures above reflect Income Insurance's own published product page and product summary as available in 2026, and personal accident pricing and benefit limits can be revised by the insurer over time. Where the product page and the product summary or policy conditions disagree, the product summary and policy conditions govern, so read those documents directly rather than relying on the marketing page alone before buying.

What to compare it against

Before choosing a personal accident plan at any insurer, check the death and disability benefit limits against your own dependants' needs, whether motorcycling or higher-risk occupations are covered as standard or need a loading, and whether an infectious disease add-on is worth its extra premium given your own risk. Compare current personal accident plans using our personal accident comparison.

Talk to an advisor

Choosing the right tier, and deciding on the infectious disease add-on, depends on your family situation and how the benefit limits compare with what you might already hold elsewhere. A licensed advisor can check this against your existing cover. Find one through the portal's advisor matching, or ask our assistant about any benefit in the product summary.
