Medic Plan explained: benefits, limits and the fine print
Prudential BSN Takaful's Medic Plan is a basic medical takaful with no lifetime limit and no medical check-up needed. Here is what it covers and where its limits sit.
Medic Plan is Prudential BSN Takaful's standalone basic medical takaful certificate, positioned as an accessible entry point into medical cover with a simplified application process. Here is what the insurer's own published material says it covers, and where the limits actually sit.
What this plan is
According to Prudential BSN Takaful's product page, Medic Plan is a standalone medical takaful certificate covering hospitalisation, surgery, outpatient treatment, cancer treatment and kidney dialysis. Contributions start from RM0.96 a day, and the insurer states that applying requires answering only three health questions rather than a full medical check-up, which is the feature the product is built around.
What it covers and its limits
The certificate carries an annual claim limit of RM100,000, with no lifetime limit, meaning the RM100,000 ceiling resets each year rather than capping total claims over the life of the certificate. Room and board is covered up to RM150 a day at a government hospital, plus a RM50 daily cash benefit, for up to 120 days, and there is a deductible option ranging from RM1,000 to RM3,000. The certificate operates across a network of private and Malaysian government hospitals, and outpatient treatment and accident cover are included as part of the published benefits.
How the deductible works
A deductible on a medical plan means you bear the first portion of an eligible claim yourself, with the takaful operator covering the remainder above that threshold. Choosing a higher deductible within the RM1,000 to RM3,000 range typically lowers the contribution, so it is worth checking the actual contribution difference between deductible options against how much you would be comfortable paying out of pocket if a claim arose.
Price and eligibility
The published starting contribution of RM0.96 a day is an entry-level figure; the actual amount payable depends on age, the deductible chosen and other underwriting factors set out in a separate occupation class table the insurer publishes. The simplified underwriting, three health questions rather than a medical exam, makes this plan more accessible to apply for, but it does not remove the standard exclusions that apply to any medical policy, including how pre-existing conditions are treated.
What any medical card buyer should check, on this plan or another
Whichever basic medical plan you are comparing this against, three things decide whether it actually functions as expected during a real claim: whether the panel of hospitals includes ones near you, whether the annual limit is realistic against the cost of a serious hospitalisation in your area, and how the plan defines and treats any pre-existing condition you already have, since medical and health insurance generally excludes conditions that existed before the policy started, and Medic Plan's simplified underwriting is not the same as guaranteed acceptance for a known condition.
Figures can change
The contribution, limits and benefits described here reflect Prudential BSN Takaful's own published material for Medic Plan, retrieved in mid-2026. Takaful operators revise pricing and benefit structures periodically, so confirm the current terms directly with Prudential BSN Takaful or an authorised agent before purchasing. The product disclosure sheet and certificate documents, not this article, are what actually govern a certificate once issued, and they take precedence over any figure summarised here.
Talk to an advisor
A low starting contribution and simplified underwriting are attractive, but whether the annual limit and hospital network actually fit your needs depends on where you live and what care you might need.
